| “Tim is a very talented basketball player who is a great shooter and strong ball handler. He always plays with great intensity and was our most talented player. He has an NBA body, is fast and attacks the basket – he will be a heck of a player for Florida State,” said IRCC head coach Mike Leatherwood... a consensus top-50 national junior college player... earned National Junior College Athletic Association All-Region VIII honors and was named the 2002 Most Valuable Player at Indiana River... averaged 21.0 points and 6.1 rebounds in leading Indian River to within one game of the National Junior College National Tournament in Hutchinson, Kansas... in helping the Pioneers to the Florida Community College Activities Association (FCCAA) championship game, Pickett was named to the All-Tournament team... Indian River fell to St. Petersburg, 80-76, in overtime in the championship game... Pickett scored 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds in the title game after scoring 26 points in the semifinals... originally signed with South Carolina after his first year at Indian River in 2001 but had his transfer denied by the Southeastern Conference... the SEC mandates players must complete at least three consecutive semesters at an institution before being allowed to enroll in a conference school... Pickett averaged 16 points during his first junior college season at Daytona Beach Community College... sat out one year between Indian River and Daytona Beach and did not play organized basketball... is in his third year out of high school and has two years of eligibility remaining at Florida State. |
