Tallahassee, Fla. – The College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA) announced their Academic all-district selections on Thursday. Florida State junior rover Myron Rolle was one of 23 student-athletes selected to the District 3 University Division team. Rolle, a Galloway, NJ native, is a graduate student enrolled in public administration with a 3.71 GPA.
Rolle is looking to become the 14th academic All-American in FSU football history. Rolle is one of just three ACC players to be selected to the District 3 team. He completed his undergraduate coursework in just two and a half years and is now pursuing a master’s degree. He is a finalist for the Rhodes Scholarship and also Florida State’s nominee for the Marshall Scholarship.
Rolle has started 30 straight games since his true freshman season. The rover is second on the team with 43 tackles and leads FSU with five pass break-ups. Rolle has led the Seminoles in tackles twice this season and had one of the finest games by a safety in the Bobby Bowden era versus Miami. Versus the Hurricanes, Rolle broke up four passes, had three third down stops, a touchdown saving tackle, a QB hurry, a tackle for loss and a ½ sack. He is a key member of a Seminole defense that is fifth in the nation in total defense.
The last Seminole to be named a CoSIDA Academic All-American was free safety Chris Hope who was named to the first team in 200 and 2001. Five of FSU’s last six academic All-America selections have been from the defensive side of the ball.
