Two Seminoles named ACC Player of the Week for first time since BC last year.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Following Florida State’s big win Saturday over Miami in Dolphin Stadium two Seminoles were named ACC Player of the Week. For the second time this season Rodney Hudson was named the conference’s offensive lineman of the week and Tony Carter took home defensive back honors.

Hudson helped lead the FSU ground game to 281 rushing yards versus a Miami defense that was allowing an average of 65 yards per game on the ground. Hudson led a young offensive line that paved the way for FSU QB Christian Ponder to rush for 144 yards, the second-most rushing yards by a Seminole QB in the history of the program. Not only did he open holes for running back Antone Smith on his four TD runs and for Ponder on his career rushing day, but he was a key factor in limiting the Hurricanes to zero sacks. UM came into the game with nine sacks on the season but were unable to sack Ponder once in the game.

Tony Carter recorded multiple interceptions for the second week in a row as he picked off Miami’s Robert Marve twice. His first pick in the first quarter led to the Seminoles’ first TD of the game and then in the fourth quarter he intercepted a deep pass on 4th-and-6 to thwart a potential Miami TD that would have cut the score to 34-29. Carter watched the receiver all the way, never turned back to look for the ball, and swiped it out of the receivers hands just as he was about to haul the ball in at the FSU two-yard line.
