Scout recruiting update

Georgia kicker is part of the 2007 recruiting class but will greyshirt and enroll at FSU next year.

Darling Prep (Georgia) kicker Shawn Powell has committed to Florida State University after receiving a scholarship offer late last week.

The 6-foot-5 and 215-pounder will receive a greyshirt and enroll at FSU in January of 2008 even though he is part of the '07 class.

Powell, a two-star prospect, will help provide depth to a special teams unit that loses kicker Gary Cismesia after this season. Current starting punter Graham Gano is entering his junior campaign and will only have one year of eligibility remaining when Powell enrolls in January.

Powell excelled at both punting and field goal kicking in high school. He is the 13th confirmed commitment for the Seminoles.
