With the desperate need for offensive lineman, the Seminoles brought in this weekend a 6-foot-5 and 290 pound standout from Sumrall (MS) and Florida State came away with a commitment.

“I committed to Florida State because it was a dream of mine,” offensive guard Tyler Graves said. “I’ve always wanted to be a Seminole.”

With the loss of guard Brandon Walker to Oklahoma, it forced the Seminoles to find a replacement in a hurry.

“Coach Andrews called and explained the situation yesterday afternoon,” he said. “I packed my bags and headed for Tallahassee.”

Over the weekend, Graves hung out with several offensive linemen.

“I hung out with Jeff Berniard and David Overmyer,” he said. “I really liked those guys and I seemed to fit right in. We also hung out with Drew Weatherford.”

The former Southern Mississippi commitment got a chance to meet the Seminole offensive line coach.

“Coach McHale told me that everything is wide open in the spring and that he likes my run blocking,” he said. “He said that they are going to try and establish the run a little more.”

Graves, who is fully qualified, graded out for the year at 85% to go along with a total of 108 pancake blocks.

“I’m starting to really work hard on my strength,” he said. “I can bench 375 pounds now.”
