Are Noles Close to Getting Another QB Commitment?

Posted Jul 31, 2005

On Friday the Seminoles picked up a quarterback commitment from three-star quarterback Christian Ponder of Colleyville (TX) Colleyville Heritage. However, it doesn’t look like the Garnet & Gold are finished recruiting the quarterback position.

On Monday, the Florida State coaching staff will host four-star quarterback D'Vontrey Richardson of Leesburg (GA) Lee County. This will be his third trip to Tallahassee this summer.

“I going with my mother and father,” Richardson said. “My dad hasn’t seen the school yet. I’m not sure when I’ll make a decision.”

The Georgia standout isn’t concerned with competitions and he’s well aware of the Noles recent commitment in Ponder.

“I saw him and camp and I’m not worried about competition,” he said. “Florida State is my leader, Georgia is second and Clemson is third on my list.”

The Dawgs have picked up steam with Richardson and they are making a run at his services.

“They told me I can play both sports at their school in football and baseball,” he said.

Richardson plays centerfield for Lee County and as a junior he had a batting average of .427.
