On Wednesday the Florida State football camp kicks off and Renegade Report staff will be there to file daily reports. We will break down some of the campers by position who are supposed to attend. Today, we will concentrate on the offense and in the next few days we will break down the defensive campers.
Quarterback:
Christian Ponder
of Colleyville (TX) Colleyville Heritage will attend the camp for one day of Tuesday. There’s a chance that he could get an offer due to uncertain status of
Wyatt Sexton
. If Sexton doesn’t return, that would leave only two scholarship quarterbacks on the roster.
Tim Tebow
is the Seminoles top quarterback target but at this time the Noles aren’t considered the favorite to sign him. Ponder has several impressive offers including
Georgia Tech
and
North Carolina
. He has family ties to
Florida State
and he would like to make a college decision before his season start
D'Vontrey Richardson
of Leesburg (GA) Lee County is one of the top athletes in the state of Georgia. He plans on showing the FSU staff that’s he’s a pretty decent quarterback. As a junior, he threw for 1,738 yards and 14 touchdowns. The 6-foot-2 and 205 pound four-star standout also rushed for 849 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Clemson
is considered the team to beat for his services.
Running Back:
Five-star running back
C.J. Spiller
will not camp with the Noles. However, the Union Country standout told Renegade Report that he might come over to the camp to watch for a day with his mother. He is currently listing the Noles as his leader.
Tight End:
Preston Dial
of Mobile (AL) Ums Wright Preparatory School is scheduled to attend the Seminole football camp. In June, the 6-foot-4 and 242 pound standout attended the University of
Alabama
’s camp. The Tide and Noles are considered his top two teams. He will likely to make a decision shortly after his time in Tallahassee. As a junior, he caught 25 passes for 375 yards and four touchdowns
Caz Piurowski
is a four-star prospect from Land O Lakes
Florida
and he use to be Seminole quarterback
Drew Weatherford
’s main target on offense in high school. The towering 6-foot-7 and 240 pound standout is the son of former Seminole linebacker Paul Piurowski. With those ties, the Noles are considered the team to beat for his signature in February. As a junior, he caught 37 passes for 530 yards and five touchdowns.
Trent Pupello
of Tampa (Fla.) Jefferson is a physical tight end that is good enough athlete to be a serious threat in the passing game as well. The 6-foot- 3 and 250 pound standout with 4.75 40-yard dash speed is currently favoring the Seminoles.
Brandon Warren
of Alcoa (TN) won’t attend the camp but he will unofficially visit the campus on Tuesday. The 6-foot-2 and 235 pound standout is a top Seminole target. As a junior, he caught 45 passes for 1,000 yards and 16 touchdowns. Florida,
Miami
and
Tennessee
will battle for his signature in February.
Offensive Line:
Kevin Young
of Clearwater Central Catholic has seen his stock on the rise. At the recent Down & Dirty Camp, he was considered the top lineman there. The Seminoles have offered and they are the team to beat. There’s a good chance that he could make a commitment shortly.
Cruz Barrett
of Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland will try and catch Coach McHale’s eye. As of now, we aren’t sure if he’ll be extended an offer.
Lance Helton
of Sandersville (GA) Washington County could be tendered an offer at the camp. The 6-foot-4 and 304 pounder is being recruited by the Seminoles as a guard. His coach is former Florida State offensive lineman Pat Tomberlin.
Ryan Broadhead
of Leesburg (GA) Lee Country is an intriguing prospect. In the past year he’s had a big growth spurt and he now stands at 6-foot-6 and he weights 260 pounds. From what I hear, Florida likes his size, strength and athletic ability. Last year he started at center but this year he plans to move to tackle.
Daron Rose
, a four-star tackle from Tampa Jefferson won’t participate in the FSU camp but he will unofficially visit the Seminoles on July 8th. As a junior, he didn’t allow a single sack. The Noles and gators could battle for his signature.
Andre Smith
of Birmingham (AL) Huffman, who is the Scout.com’s No.1 ranked offensive lineman in the country, will also make an unofficial visit during the Seminole camp. His younger brother will participate in camp activities.
