Florida State has struggled to sign a player from Palm Bay (Fla.) However; on National Signing Day the Seminoles received a fax from four-star athlete Neefy Moffett. The 6-foot-1 and 220 pound standout was down to his childhood favorite Miami and Florida State.
“I made my decision on Tuesday the day before signing day to sign with
Florida State
,”
Neefy Moffett
said. “Florida State is a better situation for me. I really liked their players and coaches. On my official visit,
Darrell Burston
was my host and he was a real cool guy to hang out with. I can’t wait to get up to Tallahassee to get started.”
Moffett admitted that his childhood favorite
Miami
was the team to beat throughout the recruiting process. However, in the end, the Hurricanes never sent him a LOI for him to sign and fax.
“I went on my official visit to Miami and everything was fine,” he said. “The Miami coaches called me and said they were excited and they acted like everything was fine. They didn’t follow through so now I’m going to be a Seminole.”
The Palm Bay standout impressed team Florida coaches during All-Star practices because of his burst and speed.
As a senior in 12 games played, he recorded 160 tackles, eight sacks and four caused fumbles.
Moffett is an excellent student who is on track to qualify academically.
“I’m can’t wait to get up to Tallahassee to start working out with the players and get my career started,” he said.
Moffett will most likely start his career out in Garnet & Gold as either a defensive end or fullback.
