Ford is Ready for Spring Competition
Ford will be competing with freshman Tony Carter and true sophomore J.R. Bryant for the starting job. The former Miami (Fla.) Northwestern standout was doing well in fall practices until a strained his Achilles tendon which forced him into a walking boot.
"I'm feeling pretty good right now," he said. "I would say I'm around 85% right now and I'm participating in all the matt drills. I'm ready for spring practices to get here."
With rehabilitation, Ford has physically gotten stronger.
"I've gotten stronger and now I weigh 195 pounds," he said. "I've gotten stronger all across the board."
The Seminole cornerback has also adjusted well in the classroom.
"I'm doing fine with my academics by getting good grades," he said.
As a senior in high school, he recorded 56 tackles, 11 pass breakups and five interceptions. He also picked off one pass in the Florida/California All-Star game.
