JUCO All-American is Set for FSU Visit

One of the top prospects in Florida two years ago was Palm Bay Safety Reggie Nelson. He is big, fast and one of the best overall prospects to come from Florida in the past five years. Not only was Nelson a star in high school he has had the same success at the Juco level.
This weekend the former high school All-American (
Reggie Nelson
) will make one of his final two trips before deciding on where to go to college for the next three years of his life. One school that has made his final two is
Florida State
. Coming out of high school the Seminoles came in a close second for the Palm Bay star. This time around the Seminole nation hopes he chooses a different path to college. One of the main reasons he likes the Seminoles is that they have early playing time and Nelson feels he can start right away.
With his upcoming graduation from Junior College, Nelson is ready for some fun.
“Yeah I can’t wait; I am done with finals on Friday and get the chance to have some fun in Tallahassee,” he said. “I am going to get the chance to hang out with a former teammate of mine (Coffeyville) in junior college
Barry Wright
. Wright and I are tight and we are very good friends. He is trying to convince me to come to Florida State. I think Coach Mickey Andrews is a great coach. Florida State has some early playing time and I would be excited to get into the mix and fight it out.”
Not only is Nelson close to Mr. Wright he knows
Antonio Cromartie
and
Ernie Sims
with the Florida/California All-Star game.
On the other end of this battle royal comes the Florida Gators. They were the winners the first time around and they expect to keep it that way even with a visit to Florida State this weekend. Nelson’s best friend and former teammate is a defensive end for the Gators.
“Yeah Florida is real tight as well, I am close to
Joe Cohen
and we talk all the time,” Nelson said. “He wants me to come back there and play with him next year. I have known Joe for awhile now and it would be nice to play with him again.”
So when is the five-star safety going to make his commitment known?
“Real soon,” he said. “I will take the visit to Florida State and after that I have one to Florida and everyone find out then.”
Most think that Nelson is a stone cold lock to resign with UF but he wants to find out if the Urban Legend is true.
