Big-Time DL Commits to the Noles

Scout.com's No 5 rated defensive lineman in the country just gave Florida State a verbal commitment. The 6-foot-6 and 245 pound four-star standout visited Tallahassee this past weekend and liked it enough to pull the trigger.

DL Justin Mincey is one of the top players in the country and on Monday night he made a surprise commitment.

"I just now got off the phone with the FSU coaches telling them I wanted to commit. I talked to Coach Allen and he was very happy for me. I'm about 96% sure I'm going to Florida State now and I'm kind of in between a soft and a firm commitment. It's more of a firm one though," Justin Mincey said.

Why did he choose the Noles?

"I just like the situation with their defensive ends. They have two seniors leaving and I think I can come in and be a big force there. A 4 year starter for them."

Mincey was in attendance this weekend at Florida State's home game with rival Florida.

"I went to the game last Saturday, talked to the players and looked at the situation with their DE's. I loved everything about it, and plus they have the spear on the side of their helmets just like we do."

Although Justin feels pretty solid in his decision at the moment, he still lists 5 schools that he may potentially consider if things were to fall through with the Noles.

"I like FSU solid as my #1 like I said. Georgia is #2, then Alabama, LSU and Tennessee. As of right now I'm undecided whether or not I'll take any visits other than Florida State."

Mincey feels as if he's now emptied a load of his shoulders.

"Early on it was crazy because of all the teams, but now I feel a lot better knowing where I'm going. It's still a little crazy because you don't know what can happen, but I feel better. I just want to get that victory this weekend and I want that ring so bad. That's my main focus right now."

Justin will be in attendance at the Seminoles bowl practice next week.
