Edwards was a starter in Florida State's back-to-back national championship game appearances in 1999 and 2000. In his four seasons with the Seminoles, they never finished lower than fourth in the final polls.
Edwards, 28, was a sixth-round selection of the Dallas Cowboys, where he made a nice name for himself as an aggressive cover corner.
Edwards is looking to make the same impact with the Tampa Bay Bucs. The 6-foot, 200-pound Edwards is expected to see plenty of action in the Bucs' nickel and dime packages.
Edwards says his aggressive nature should prove beneficial.
"In Dallas, we were a man-to-man defense, a lot of bump coverage," Edwards told the St. Petersburg Times.
"These days, receivers are getting bigger and faster and you'd like to play a little more bump. I think that's what we're trying to do, play a little more bump coverage.
"I like to think I have a little size to me and with the bigger receivers coming into the league, you have to go to some bigger corners."
