Leonard Hamilton and the Florids State basketball recieved good news late Tuesday. Still waiting on forward Jerome Habel to qualify, the Seminoles learned that a member of last season's class will arrive in Tallahassee in tim for next season.

Antonio Griffin, who averaged 16.0 points and 7.4 rebounds during the 2002-03 season at Scottsdale Community College, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Florida State University and play basketball for head coach Leonard Hamilton. Griffin originally signed with Florida State in 2003 but did not enroll. He will have two years of eligibility remaining when he begins play this fall with the Seminoles.

Griffin (6-6, 210 lbs) was named as the 21st best junior college player in the nation by CBSSportsLine.com following his sophomore (2002-03) season at Scottsdale. He was ranked as the sixth best junior college power forward by Lindy’s College Basketball Annals and by Van Coleman of Future Stars prior to his second junior college season. Griffin is considered to be an athletic player who has worked to improve in every phase of his game.

“Antonio is an extremely versatile player with the ability to play three positions for us,” said Hamilton. “He gives us an added dimension of versatility that we are looking for and will help us in many ways on the court.”

Griffin (Madison, Ga.) earned All-Arizona Community College Athletic Conference honorable mention honors following the 2002-03 season as he helped Scottsdale to a fifth place Division I Conference finish. He ranked 11th in the conference statistics in rebounding and pulled down his career-high of 16 rebounds against South Mountain Community College as a sophomore. Griffin scored his career-high of 28 points in the same game against South Mountain. Scottsdale Community College is located in Tempe, Arizona and is a member of the Arizona Community College Athletic Conference.
