After getting blown out in Tallahassee, Maryland beats the Seminoles at home

In January Florida State beat Maryland by 24 points and set the school record for most three point field goals in an ACC game with 16. Maryland returned the favor by beating the Seminoles 83-71 on Saturday and made 10 three pointers on their way to the 12 point victory.

Maryland dominated the game from the very beginning as sophomore guard Seth Allen dropped 32 points on 11-15 shooting and went 7-10 from the three point line. Sophomore guard Dez Wells added 15 points and 6 assists and sophomore forward Jake Layman added 12 points and 5 rebounds. Maryland as a team shot 51.9 percent from the field and 82.6 from the free throw line.

Florida State was led by sophomore guard Aaron Thomas who had 17 points and 8 rebounds. Senior forward Okaro White added 12 points and 8 rebounds before fouling out. Sophomore guard Devon Bookert added 14 points and sophomore guard Montay Brandon added 11. Florida State shot a dismal 38.1 percent from the field. The Seminoles out rebounded the Terps by 7, including 20 offensive rebounds, but Florida State had trouble turning those boards into points. Florida State was without their leading scorer Ian Miller, who had 20 points in the first game, due to an ankle injury.

Florida State falls to 14-9 on the year and 5-5 in the ACC. The Seminoles have dropped five of their last seven and are in danger of falling out of the NCAA tournament for the second straight year. Florida State has Miami next at home on Monday at 7 PM.
