Florida State finally made a full offer to East Gadsden offensive tackle Derrick Kelly last night, and Kelly's letter of intent was one of the first to arrive in Tallahassee on Wednesday morning.
Kelly was originally a Kentucky commit but coveted a Florida State offer throughout the process and finally got what he wanted at the 11th hour.
Kelly is a three-star prospect, ranked as the #37 offensive tackle prospect in the nation. He is a lean 285 pounds at 6'6. We believe he has a reasonably high ceiling thanks to his fluidity and athleticism at that size. He could comfortably carry 315 pounds after a couple years in the FSU conditioning and nutrition program.
Kelly's tape shows a nasty streak and a kid who sticks with blocks throughout the play, just the sort of player who should flourish under hard-driving offensive line coach Rick Trickett.
Kelly chose FSU over Florida and LSU.
