Miami's excellent 2012/2013 season continued Wednesday night, as they defeated ACC opponent Virginia Tech by the score of 73-64.
Despite Virginia Tech shooting with better percentage in the first half and taking a three-point lead into halftime the Canes were able to pull it out in the end. Miami out-scored the Hokies by 12 points in the second half.
Freshman Shane Larkin was clearly the best player on the court in this game. He led all players with 25 points in a winning effort for the Hurricanes. He also grabbed three rebounds. Kenny Kadji scored 18, while Trey McKinnie Jones added 12 points for Miami. Reggie Johnson, playing in his third game back since returning from injury, continues getting worked back into the rotation slowly. He led all players with 10 boards in this game.
Erick Green scored 30 points for the host Hokies, who fell to 11-9 (2-5 in the ACC) on the season.
The 14th-ranked Hurricanes are now 16-3 on the season, and 7-0 in the conference. The team will hit the road again for an away game against North Carolina State on Saturday.
