Three in pursuit of Peak

Chicago (Ill.) Whitney Young standout L.J. Peak says two schools from the Big Ten and one from the ACC are showing him the most attention.

Ever since moving from South Carolina to Chicago, L.J. Peak has been working on his game. Now at Whitney Young, Peak is on one of the best high school teams in the country, and is making a consistent impact.

"It has been going good," said Peak of his junior year. "My role is to score and to guard the best scorer on the other team so that forces me to focus on the defensive end."

At the start of the year, it was Ohio State and Purdue who were showing Peak the most interest, but lately Florida State has really picked up the interest. Peak reports those three are the schools he is contact with the most.

"I don't know a lot about Florida State, but I am starting to look into them," said Peak of the Seminoles. "Coach (Dennis) Gates is real cool and we are building a close relationship."

Ohio State has also been there for a while, and they continue to pursue the four-star prospect.

"They've been there a long time," Peak said. "I really like them and I like Coach (Dave) Dickerson."

Purdue has continued to pursue Peak, and though he is still learning about the school he likes what he is hearing from the Boilermakers.

"I don't know anything about them, but they offered and they have been calling, and I want to learn more," said Peak.

For now Peak is in no hurry to make any visits or a commitment, but he does know the two main factors in his decision.

"I look for a school where I have a good relationship with the coaches and a playing style where I fit in," said Peak.

At the moment Peak has his attention on winning a state title and being the best defender he can for the Whitney Young program.
