The Terrapins rolled past Northwestern in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge to win their fifth straight.

The Maryland Terrapins overcame a slow first half to handily beat the Northwestern Wildcats 77-57 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge Tuesday night.

Sophomore forward Dez Wells scored a career-high 23 points to lead the Terrapins while sophomore center Alex Len scored 13 points while grabbing 13 rebounds on the night. Sophomore guard Nick Faust added 10 points and grabbed six boards.

The Terps only led 28-26 at halftime but shot 66.7 percent in the second half, scoring 20 out of 30 field goals and making four of seven shots from behind the arc. In the second half, redshirt senior Logan Aronholt made three three-point shots to help the Terps pull away.

The Terps dominated the Wildcats inside the paint, out-rebounding them 47-19. The size of Len and players such as senior James Padgett and freshman Charles Mitchell were too much for the Wildcats. The Terps will need to continue to work on ball security, turning the ball over 15 times to Northwestern's four

Reggie Hearn led the Wildcats with 19 points while Dave Sobolewski had 14 points and Drew Crawford had 10 for Northwestern. The Wildcats came into the game with a dangerous three-point game, but they only shot 24 percent from downtown.

With the win, the Terps improve to 5-1 while Northwestern is handed their first loss of the season as they drop to 6-1. The Terps will play at the Verizon Center in Washington, D.C. on Saturday against George Mason in the BB&T Classic. Tipoff is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
