Seminoles Land 4-star Levenberry

Florida State lands four-star linebacker E.J. Levenberry of C.D. Hylton, Va. Get the details on his decision inside.

The Seminoles fight song rang loud and clear throughout CD Hylton's auditorium Tuesday afternoon after E.J. Levenberry, a four-star outside linebacker, announced he will take his services to Florida State over Michigan. Family, friends and classmates cheered in bliss, but it was anything but an easy decision for the Virginia native.

"We love those coaches at Michigan. They are like family," said Mr. Levenberry, E.J.'s father, who handles his recruitment. E.J.'s decision came shortly after visiting both Ann Arbor and Tallahassee. He had a long conversation with defensive coordinator Greg Mattison Sunday evening. "It was very hard," said his father. "We love the coaches and family at Michigan. It was very hard for him."

It came down to one thing, said his pop.

"Everyone knows all along we are looking at education and the opportunity to compete for a conference and/or national championship every year," Mr. Levenberry explained. "Both programs offer that. A Michigan degree is a top degree out there, but FSU has his major and is number one in the country for computer forensics. That's his focus after football, and there is a need for people who have that degree. It literally came down to his major and Michigan didn't have it."

The 'Noles had that working in its' favor, and Jimbo Fisher's successful recruiting efforts in recent years was also a plus.

"Their recruiting class these past couple years is top notch," said Mr. Levenberry. "One of the big things FSU has going for them is that their front four are the top five players in the country. E.J. basically wouldn't get touched with that defensive line in front of him at FSU."

Despite a close race, the 6-foot-3, 226-pound Levenberry has decided to wear Garnet and Gold in 2013, and join an already loaded Florida State recruiting class. Stay tuned for an exclusive video interview with the future Seminole himself.
