NoleDigest Take: Carter Commitment
About the Player Ruben Carter School: Miami, Fl (Jackson) Ht/Wt: 6'4, 280 Carter is FSU's 17th commit for the 2011 classGeoff Vogt, FoxSports.com I attended his game this year with Norland where Carter played both DT and OL. The first thing that jumped out was his character. He seemed to be a great team mate, leader, and hard worker. He dominated inside and showed surprisingly sound technique on the offensive side. Norland is tough and he faced quality competition in this one. He possesses good size and should fill out to the 295-310 range down the road. He has a powerful frame and should flourish with strength coach Vic Viloria. Florida State worked him out at summer camp as a potential Offensive Tackle and they liked what they saw. He was made a priority after that performance. He has a lot of athleticism and natural tools and might ultimately end up at Right Tackle. Carter is ranked a two-star prospect right now by Scout.com, but look for that to change(as well as his listed position). He should be listed with the offensive linemen. He flew a little under the radar because colleges were unsure of future position(DT/OL). Coach Trickett is one of the best evaluator's in the business and he has no such questions. Carter's team mate Robensen Therezie is also being recruited by FSU and we could hear from DeAndre Jasper next cycle(2012). Freshmen Quinton Flowers has the look of a big-timer(2014). For FSU Carter is the 4th Offensive Line commit for 2011 and it is believed that the final number will be five or six. In a way they are assembling a "future" OL with Sterling Lovelady(Center), Bobby Hart(Guard), Trey Pettis(Guard), and now Carter(Tackle). It appears as if Jordan Prestwood(Tackle) would be the final piece to the puzzle. It is unclear how big the 2011 class will be by signing day, but we expect the number to be somewhere between 24-28 prospects. The final number is never known until they have officially enrolled. Point here is that there may be as many as 10-11 players joining what is shaping up to be a terrific class.
